Gold Regardless

“Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.”

Proverbs 11:22 (NIV)

I love that verse. I know it seems like an unusual verse to love, but I do. When I was a teenager this verse was my anthem in the dating arena. So this one goes out to the ladies. This is going to be your confidence boosting, self worth identifying, security blanket of a blog post. If you’ve been struggling with your value- this one is for you.

“Like a gold ring…”

In this verse you are being compared to the gold ring. Something of value. Something of beauty. Something that people want. Something that people pay high prices for. You are gold.

“In a pig’s snout…”

We’ve determined that you’re gold. That fact won’t change throughout the breakdown of the verse. What does change is your position. The gold goes from being an item that is designed to adorn someone and becomes something still of great value but of no purpose.

The position in which you put yourself will determine a lot. Not about your value, but about your effectiveness.

If you put yourself in a romantic relationship that doesn’t glorify God, you won’t become any less worthy. But you will become ineffective in your calling. Not because God is trying to punish you, but because you’ve allowed yourself to be somewhere you were never designed for.

If you put yourself in a friend group that doesn’t point you to Jesus, you won’t be any less costly. But you will be limited in your relationship with Christ. Not because God is mad at you, but because you’ve linked yourself to a people that dull your thrist for the God rather than sharpen it like Proverbs 27:17 says.

When we step outside of the will of God we find ourselves grasping at anything around us to make us feel worthy because sometimes we can’t identify exactly what the issue is, but we know that an area of our life is in an improper place.

So if you’ve been feeling worthless, if you’ve been feeling less than, not good enough, not important enough, chances are it has nothing to do with your value and everything to do with your placement.

Because girl, you’re gold regardless. Regardless of how you feel. Regardless of where you are in life. You. are. valuable. Stop placing yourself in areas that can’t afford you.

Read that again.

“Is a beautiful woman that shows no discretion.”

So how do you stop selling yourself short and start standing where you’re tailored for?

Discretion. (Click the word for the dictionary definition)

The ability to use good judgement in the everyday decisions you make. It is so important to give the Holy Spirit room to lead and guide you.

You don’t have to make the hard choices alone. John 15:26 describes the Holy Spirit as a Helper. He’s there to utilize. Too often we shove Him in the dusty cupboards of our hearts and forget that He has a voice in our lives.

If you give the Holy Spirit the freedom to speak to your heart and in your life you know what He’ll tell you?

You are so valuable. You are loved. You are important. You are beautiful. You are treasured, esteemed, sought after, wanted.

By allowing the Lord to lead you in His will, you will find ourselves placed perfectly, rather than piggly.

Don’t waste your worth. You’re gold regardless. Step into the places that compliment your value.

Be Blessed!
