Prayer Closet Power

“The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.”

Samuel Chadwick

2020 has been a record setting year. Unprecedented is the best word I can think to describe it. Can I be honest? I haven’t loved it. Shocker, right?

BUT, God has been faithful in 2020. In January, I was praying about what word God was giving me to describe the upcoming year. The word He gave me was faithful.

Not only did He tell me He was going to be faithful to me, but He also told me I was going to be faithful to the things I’d started and not yet finished. Things that I put aside because I had a baby, because I needed more money, because I needed more time. Things that I had perfectly good reasons to delay- He told me I’d be faithful to complete them.

This excited me. It all sounded great. Little did I know, I’d have more time because of quarantine. I’d have more money because we couldn’t spend it on going out. You see, God didn’t tell me about the chaos that was coming. He told me about what He was going to do with it.

He told me how He was going to bless me, in the midst of the mess. He was going to use all the negative circumstances to promote, bless, and push me forward. He told me He was going to be faithful. Period.

That means no matter what else comes this year, I’m confident that God has a plan for it. I don’t believe He sends bad things, but I am positive He uses them. Not only does He have a plan for it, but the plan is for my good.

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV), “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

My pastor recently preached an incredible message on believing God in 2020. (You can watch it by clicking HERE) In the sermon, he said how important it is to stop talking about the rest of the year as if God isn’t going to be with us every step of the way.

God is with you. God is with you. You’re safe. You’re covered. You’re provided for. You’re blessed. You’re joyful. No matter what is swarming around us- GOD IS WITH US. That’s a much bigger deal than we give it credit.

I believe now is the time for us as the body of Christ, to speak to the world, with confidence that comes from knowing God is present, and tell it to get in line with the will of God. I believe now is the time to pray bold prayers. Commanding financial peace, health by the blood of Jesus, and protection over our families.

I believe now is the time to cover America in prayer. We are here for a reason. We are here to hold back to plans of the enemy and further the plans of Heaven. We are Kingdom builders- we need to be building.

There is an abundant power that comes from the solitude of a prayer closet.

And I don’t mean prayers whining to God about why all these things are happening. I mean prayers that release the will of God. Prayers of boldness and authority.

We, as the body of Christ, are so much stronger than we realize. We need to make sure we are walking in the strength that comes from actively believing, confidently pursuing, and constantly relying on Jesus.

Jeremiah 17:7-8(ESV) “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit.”

We might be in a year of drought. But that doesn’t mean that we cease to bear fruit. Because we trust that God is faithful. We believe that He is good. And we rely on His Word to show us how to pray, that we may effect change in the world around us.

This year has been different. But our God has not been shaken. The enemy’s plans to tear us apart can be cast down and reversed if we as the Church will take our place and use our God-given authority in prayer.

Proverbs 6:31(NIV) “Yet if he [a thief] is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.”

That verse says when the thief is caught, he has to return sevenfold what he took. I believe satan has been stealing. He’s been stealing our peace, our health, our freedom, our time, and our words.

And now, he has been caught. We as Christians need to demand a sevenfold return of everything Hell tried to take from us this year. We need to demand that the end of this year be the best one yet. I want it back. I want it all back. And I want it all back better than before.

When we realize it is our right as believers to this return, we can then begin to claim it and walk in it. This recognition begins in your prayer closet. Prayer isn’t just talking to God. It’s also proclaiming aloud so that all of Heaven, Earth, and Hell can hear God’s will being released.

Hell trembles when we pray. And Heaven gets to work.

We need some more Heaven work. It’s time to start praying.

Our God is faithful.

Be Blessed!

Yes, speak with confidence about Christ. I like that line.

  2. Prayer is such a mighty weapon.

I love your outlook on 2020. An attitude of gratitude is certainly better than being an avid complainer.
