“For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are [symbolically] proclaiming [the fact of] the Lord’s death until He comes [again].”
1 Corinthians 11:26(AMP)
Communion– the service of Christian worship at which bread and wine are consecrated and shared.
The dictionary definition of communion defines it as an act of worship. I would have to agree.
I believe Hell trembles when we worship. I mean just genuinely terrified of the whole thing. It knows it’s lost when we worship. It’s reminded of it’s place when we praise.
Just like I think Hell is aware and affected by our worship- I believe Heaven is also touched. I believe Heaven praises with us.
“And I heard every created thing that is in heaven or on earth or under the earth [in Hades, the realm of the dead] or on the sea, and everything that is in them, saying [together], ‘To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb (Christ), be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.’” Revelations 5:13
The acts of worship we do here on Earth, directly affect both Heaven and Hell. That’s a big deal.
Considering communion as an act of worship as well, must mean that Heaven, Earth, and Hell are all affected by it. This is not just a religious ceremony we do in order to check it off the list. This is a huge deal.
This verse in 1 Corinthians 11 says, “…proclaiming [the fact of] the Lord’s death…” When we participate in communion we are reminding Hell of it’s biggest mistake. And I like that. I type those words with a smile. Because if you’re anything like me, Satan has tried to lie to you. He’s attempted, and even sometimes succeed at making you afraid. Terrified even.
But fear is a liar. Hell has no power of us. But when I partake of communion, I’m the one bringing fear to the devil. The difference is my threats are not lies. I am simply reminding the powers of darkness what my God, my Champion, did.
Hell hates it.
The people in that day screamed, “crucify Him!” Hell thought it had won. Satan thought if he could just take down our Champion, he could win the whole fight. But when resurrection interrupted Hell’s celebration, it lost more than it could have ever gained by killing the Christ. It tried to take the life of One, but rather, the One gave eternal life to all who would believe in Him.
Jesus could not defeat death in life. Death placed Jesus in a new position to redeem us in a way that had never been possible before.
If you really think about it, Hell, Satan, and the power’s of darkness, all played a part in Jesus saving everyone. I’m sure whatever demon was in charge of that plan was immediately fired. (Pun intended)
So when you partake of communion, it is not just for us, in this physical realm, right here and now. It is also to remind your opposition who your Champion is, and what He has already done.
It is to remind Hell of it’s biggest mistake.
We rub it in the face of adversity when we partake of this Holy worship. Notifying Heaven and Hell that we choose to partake, walk in, live in, and move forward in, victory.
Communion is a physical representation of the spiritual manifestation.

This brings the Spiritual realm of victory, and the finished work of the Cross, literally into our physical bodies.
There is a tangible, physical occurrence that happens when you digest anything. A process in which your body takes the ingested material and turns it into fuel for your body. We take the body of Christ and the blood of the Lamb as physical, tangible, fuel to be broken down and dispersed into our bodies.
That means resurrection life literally flows in your veins too.
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” Romans 8:11(NIV)
If you need healing manifested in your body- take communion. If you need new hope, and new revelation- take communion. If you need some breakthrough in your life- take communion. Because it touches your physical body, as well as your spiritual war room. It reminds you, your enemy, and your situation that the battle belongs to the Lord. And He’s already won it.
If you’ve never gotten excited about the opportunity to take communion, you should now.
Hell, you messed up. Epically.
God, you showed up. Monumentally.
So opposition, you’re no match for me.
“I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on, and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” Galatians 2:20(AMP)
Be Blessed!
