Step back with me 2,000 years ago on the eve of the great resurrection.

My God is about to mic drop.

Easter is the day we celebrate the most important plot twist of all time. The most epic, mighty, legendary act is about to come to pass.

Death is about to die.

It doesn’t know it yet. Death still thinks it’s won. It’s snickering in celebration, believing it has crucified the Christ. The powers of Hell are probably plotting what all they want to do now that Jesus is out of the way. I’m sure the demons all high-fived and boasted amongst themselves about how strong they were- to be able to take down the Almighty. They probably tormented the believers of Jesus. Saying, “How foolish of you to have trusted in your God who was killed so easily.”

“Then Jesus said to them, ‘You will all fall away because of Me this night[disillusioned about Me, confused, and some even ashamed of Me], for it is written [in the Scriptures], ‘I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’” Matthew 26:31(AMP)

That is, until the ground starts to shake. Death is probably in denial. Thinking, “He’s dead. There’s no way it’s Him. He’s deep in the cave tomb.”

Satan continues his party.

But then the stone starts to roll….

And Hell begins to shake. No longer with celebration, but with fear.

Fear became afraid. Because it knew it had been beat.

A top the giant boulder door sealing Jesus in the grave sat two angels dressed in white. With the greatest line anyone could think to write,

“He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.” Matthew 28:6(NIV)

Captivity was taken captive. Death died. Sin lost. Fear lay terrified. Punishment paid. But life– new life came out of the grave.

“When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And He bestowed gifts on men.” Ephesians 4:8(AMP)

The very same grave that held Him caged for three days, gave way for life. The very same Hell that rejoiced for three days, relinquished it’s power over God’s people. Satan was squashed and Jesus arose victorious with the keys to death, Hell, and the grave.

“I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.” Revelation 1:18(NIV)

Now no grave can hold us. No fear can trick us. No enemy can beat us. Because we serve a living Jesus. A victorious Savior. An Almighty Master. Now we can always remind the enemy that it’s been defeated. Every time fear attempts to sneak it’s way into our thoughts, we have all authority and ability to command it to bow to the name of Jesus. Hell shakes at the name of Jesus.

Our God won. Even when it looked like He had lost- all the while He was winning.

And the very same people that crucified Him, mocked, spit, and beat Him- He came back for. You and me.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8(NIV)

I hope while you read this you catch my excitement. Because just thinking about the awesomeness of my Champion makes me wanna fist pump the air and jump up and down. I can’t stay quiet about it. This is a big deal.

Jesus brought us forgiveness through His death and life through His resurrection.

If you’re reading this and you know Jesus, awesome. Get pumped up this Easter and celebrate the greatest comeback of all time.

But if you’re reading this and you don’t know Jesus- there’s no better time than right now to come to Him. He’s awesome. You’ll love Him. He’s stronger than anything you’re facing. He’s good enough to cover any of your weakness. He’s merciful enough to forgive anything you’ve done. He is so good.

He’s alive. He is risen. He is always rolling stones.
