You’ve got a big decision to make. You know the one I’m talking about. For someone it might be about a relationship. For another it might be about a job. For someone else it might be about what step to take next in life. Where to go to college, when to have kids, where you should live etc.
This one is for the one in need of some heavenly directions. Anyone else just pleading, “God, just show me what to do”?
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7
I smile writing this because every time I’ve come to God begging for direction, He has always been so faithful to hand me a map.
The funny thing is, it’s never how I thought it would look. The paths He reveals are most often the ones I never even knew were an option. That’s why it’s so vital that we ask God, who has the bird’s eye view of our whole life, which way to go.
Our perspective is so limited to the right here and right now that we can’t possibly know which road will have the most beneficial finish line. Aren’t you so glad that the God we serve isn’t limited to the present, but rather ever-present in your past, present, and future?
“…for the Lord will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” Isaiah 52:12
When I begin to try and figure out my future, I become overwhelmed with inability to see any further than my current situation. But if God’s infamous plot twists have taught me anything it’s this-
There are so many things that will change between now and then- so many new options, so many different people, so much new knowledge, that when it comes time to take the next step, make the next move, or choose the next path, the decision will be so clear that you can’t miss it.
God promises to give us wisdom. He promises to be with us. He promises to lead, and guide, and help us.
If you are willing to follow Jesus, then the next step isn’t really for you to plan anyway.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
That verse says that when we submit to Him, when we hand over the map and say, “Lord, wherever you lead I will follow.” The next step becomes infinitely less complicated.
So like I said, this is for the one who is pleading with God to just show you what to do. Here is your answer- follow Jesus.
No matter what decision you have to make or step you have to take, walking in a relationship with Jesus will get you to the right place every single time.

When I was looking for the man that God had for me to marry, I was so afraid I was going to miss it or mess it up. But when I began to let go of the plans and just walk with Jesus, He led me straight to my husband. And I have no doubt it was the perfect plan.
In fact, every time I’ve frantically ran to God with my questions of tomorrow His answer is always, “Just follow me in today.”
Day by day, little by little, and sometimes big by big, He would reveal His plans for me. In His perfect and beautiful timing.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” Jeremiah 29:11
God never expected you to lead the way. Follow Jesus.

He will take you where you need to be, exactly when you need to be there. His grace is sufficient and His mercies are new for today. Just like they will be new for tomorrow.
Isn’t freeing to know all that is required of you is surrender?
Be Blessed!

Jordan, God is using you in mighty ways! Thank you for this wonderful devotional!
