You’re Going to Be Okay

“I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”

Psalm 37:25

You’re going to be okay. Read that again. If you are like me, it’s just comforting to hear. The Bible says it many times. Sometimes, I just need someone to say it aloud and remind my heart- be still.

There is so much uncertainty swarming us all right now with this pandemic. It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen. Jobs are closing, grocery stores are emptying, hospitals are filling, and no one knows how long this is going to last.

Without turning to the Word of God, this storm we are walking through could be down right terrifying. But I’ve got great news- the Bible used the word never.

“Never” is a very definitive word. There’s not really any wiggle room for misinterpretation. Psalm says, “..I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.”

You know what that tells me? If I fall in the category of “the righteous”, I’m going to be okay. I’m going to have all my needs supplied. I’m going to have enough money, I’m going to have enough food, and I giggle a little when I say this but, I’ll even have enough toilet paper.

So I asked God, what are some ways that I can guarantee myself to be in the righteous category?

“Therefore, since we have been made righteous through his faithfulness combined with our faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1(CEB)

When we accept Jesus into our hearts and lives, and acknowledge His faithfulness to us on the cross, the Bible says that we are made righteous.

That means if you’re a Christian, you belong in this category of always being held by a big, capable God.

But here’s the thing-

If you don’t allow God to work on your behalf, He won’t force Himself into your circumstance.

These are unprecedented times. There are so many factors at play that we simply can’t control. It’s time to let God fight for you. It’s time to let go of the white knuckle grip you have on your job to provide for you, and believe God is telling the truth when He says He will meet all your needs according to HIS riches. (Phil. 4:19) HIS riches have nothing to do with your income.

It’s time to rise up as the body of Christ and rather than hoarding supplies, we should be offering help to the people around us that maybe couldn’t find what they needed at their last grocery run.

“And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16(NIV)

It’s time to TITHE. Yeah, you heard me. When money is tight, there is an even greater mandate on tithing.

When we tithe, we sow in faith, a seed that God grows with faithfulness.

Giving your ten percent, whether that’s five hundred dollars or just five, is the seed that is required for God to grow something prosperous on your behalf.

God can’t work with what you don’t give Him.

“Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.” Malachi 3:10(ESV)

Lastly, I leave you with this- God loves you. He wants to take care of you. Now, more than ever, we need to let God be God. We need to rest in His unfailing love. We need to trust that the same God that rained down manna from Heaven, parted the Red Sea, and multiplied two fish and five loaves of bread to feed five thousand, can get you through this.

“His eye is on the sparrow, so I know He watches me.”

Be Blessed!

  1. We should take it further than just giving our full tithe. God has shown our family time and time again that when we give sacrificialy, He meets ALL our needs. If you skimp on your tithe, you will struggle to make ends meet. BUT if you give sacrifically, you will be blessed. It is a miracle of obedience.

Take care of your neighbors, shut-ins, elderky, and single parents. If you have extra of anything, he willing to share it. Even if it’s not extra but someone else needs it, share

These are the times that really prove who your god is. Do you trust God to bring you through OR are you depending on your financial resources? If you answered the latter, your god is money or status.

I pray that we all get this right & demonstrate to the world who God is & why we can trust Him with all aspects of our lives.
