You are NOT enough

“My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough- always available- regardless of the situation]; for My power is being perfected in your weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:9(AMP)

I had a beautiful baby girl in May and she has been the best thing I’ve ever done but also the hardest. It has taken some time to get adjusted to our new life. While I adore being Braven’s mother, I mean truly, I adore it- it’s still a struggle every now and then. I don’t possess the know how to be working, taking care of Braven, keeping the house clean, the laundry done, excerise, eat healthy, keep my spiritual life in check, and not to mention give my sweet husband the attention he deserves.

I often felt like while trying to do it all perfectly that I was failing at most of it. That’s the word that ran through my mind often- failure. It all felt heavy. I didn’t know how to be enough.

If you’re a momma I know you understand the feeling I’m describing, but even if you’re a teenager in highschool, a dad working two jobs, a college student neck deep in homework, whoever you are and whatever your situation is, we’ve all felt not enough before.

Matthew 11:28-30(MSG), “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me- watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fittig on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”

I prayed that verse to God and asked Him to show me how to “get away with Him.” How to get away from the heavy. I wanted more than anything to learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I wanted Him to show me how to be enough.

The answer He gave was this, “Take the pressure off.” Take the pressure of perfection off. Take the pressure of trying to be “enough” off. Take the pressure of time off. Take the pressure of the future off.

Because I’m not perfect- He is.

The truth is, I’m not enough. I was never meant to be. That’s why I have a Savior.

That’s why I need a shephard. It felt so good to hear that I didn’t have to be enough all on my own. That’s what I want you to hear today- you don’t have to be enough alone.

John 15:26(NIV) says that God sent a “Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor- Counselor, Strengthener, Standy)…”

talking about the Holy Spirit.

God’s love and affection for you has nothing to do with your productivity. His grace is enough to cover your insufficiency. His love reaches further than a perfect devotional record. His mercy extends to your weakness. So take the pressure off.

Be the best you can be and let God do the rest.

You don’t have to provide for your family alone, the Bible says when we tithe He opens up the floodgates of heaven to pour out blessing on us. You don’t have to know all the answers alone, the Bible says He gives out wisdom to those who seek Him. You don’t have to do it all.

Psalm 127:2(NIV) says, “In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat- he grants sleep to those he loves.”

I’ve got good news- You are not enough. God is. So take the pressure off.

Be Blessed!
