This is how I fight my battles

“Give thanks to the Lord,  for his love endures forever.”

2 Chronicles 20:21 (NIV)

What if I told you those words in 2 Chronicles 20 were all you needed to win the war that has been waged against you? What if that statement alone could cause your enemy to crumble? What if I told you that an entire army of men went into a real life battle with no sword, no bow, no arrow, and no shield- but using that phrase alone defeated not one, but two attacking forces? Sounds unbelievable right?

If you read the whole story in 2 Chronicles 20, (which I encourage you to do because it is truly incredible), you’ll see that Jehoshaphat and his men were being surrounded by two different armies. Jehoshaphat came to God asking for help and what God told him to do was unusual to say the least for a war strategy. God’s instructions were this, “You need not fight in this battle; take your positions, stand and witness the salvation of the Lord who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem. Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” 2 Chron. 20:17(NIV) He told them not to fight at all.

Further down in the passage you’ll see that what they did instead of fight was sing and praise God with the words, “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.” It says while they were praising, God Himself, went to work on their behalf. He confused the enemy tribes and they ended up destroying each other! When we make worship our weapon, God will take the same thing the enemy sent as an attack and use it for your advantage. That’s how good God is at war. He’s a better fighter than you and me. He’s stronger. He’s faster. He’s smarter. But the biggest reason to let God do the fighting for you is He has already won every war that was ever waged against you when Jesus went to the cross. It is finished.

Your worship is far more powerful than you know. When you magnify God in the middle of a fight, the enemy gets confused. When you worship in the midst of war, you notify heaven and hell that God will be your champion, your victor, and your hero. Worship wins wars.

So this is how I fight my battles- I worship God, while He fights for me.
